OPERATION & MAINTENANCE

CLOSING THE UNIT

· Pull out the lock pin and turn the knob 1/4 turn to disengage the pin from ratchet.

· Pull the roll tarp out to the tail gate by pulling the roll tarp from the rear center of the tarp or by pulling the cord.

NOTE: INITIALLY, FOR THE ROLL TARP TO ROLL FREELY, IT COULD REQUIRE OPENING AND CLOSING THE ROLL TARP A NUMBER OF TIMES. (Ensure that rails have been sprayed with silicone. *See Maintenance)

CLOSED UNIT WITH TAIL GATE UNLOCKED

· Open tail gate and lock the roll tarp clip into the side rail slots and tension as follows. Close the tail gate after tensioning to have an unlocked tail gate.

WARNING! Tailgate clip is to lock tail gate only. Main anchor points for the roll tarp are the side rail slots.

CLOSED UNIT WITH TAIL GATE LOCKED

· Lock the roll tarp clips into the side rail slot and the security clip with the tail gate closed. This will result in a locked tail gate

· Fold down the magnetic flap to contact the rear of the tail gate.

· Unlock the cover with your key. Pull out the folding handle to its full extension and form a strong arm ensuring that the handle is properly engaged.

· Rotate the lock pin knob 1/4 turn to engage it into the ratchet and turn the handle in a clockwise direction while in the strong arm position to achieve the desired tension. IMPORTANT! KEEP THE COVER DRUM TIGHT! KEEPING THE COVER DRUM TIGHT AT ALL TIMES WILL PREVENT PREMATURE WEARING.

· Retract the folding handle into its storage position.

          OPENING THE UNIT

· Pull out the folding handle to its full extension and form a strong arm. Ensure that the handle is properly engaged.

· Apply pressure to the handle in a clockwise direction while pulling out on the lock pin knob (this will take the pressure off the pin)

· When the lock pin is free pull out and turn the knob 1/4 turn to disengage the pin from ratchet.

· Flip up the magnetic flap at the rear of the tarp.

· Disengage the roll tarp clip from the side rails and security clip by pulling the tarp back slightly. Lift the tarp and push it forward slightly.

· Wind in the tarp in by forming the handle into a crank and turning in a clockwise direction.

· When the cover is rolled in engage the lock pin (turn 1/4 turn up) and tension the tarp slightly (3 or 4 clicks of the ratchet). This will tighten the roll and prevent the rolled up cover from vibrating loose while traveling with the cover open and prevent any possibility of the cover binding when trying to close the cover. If this procedure was not performed before traveling with the cover open, tighten the roll before pulling the cover out.

· Return the handle to its storage position.

MAINTENANCE

· To prevent vinyl cover from fading and cracking, thoroughly wash with soap and water then apply a vinyl protectant (use only 303 Protectant, Scotch Guard Protective Gel, or UV Max by Rolite Co.) at least once a month. This procedure will also keep the cover soft and easier to open and close in cold weather.

· Regularly wipe inside of rails, and apply a silicone spray (i.e. kleen-flo "kleen slip") to inside of rails and to hub of end cap. This procedure is very important if there is a great amount of dust - such as when traveling gravel roads.

· Silicone spray in the lock ratchet mechanism will keep all parts properly lubricated.

· DO NOT USE ANY OIL BASE PRODUCTS (i.e. WD 40, or grease ) IN RAILS OR RATCHET MECHANISM.
