Retractable Truck Cover
History
The Alumi-Tech truck cover was the "Brain Child" of Joe Menz, co-founder of
Western Industries. Joe originally designed the truck cover in 1986 when his
personal demand for a truck cover could not be met by existing truck covers on
the market, at that time. Upon designing an original prototype truck cover, Joe
re-engineered & refined the original prototype until he had a truck cover that
met the rigourous demands and high personal expectations of Joe himself. By
1988, Joe had a truck cover that was tried, tested and ready for manufacturer
under the registered trade name: Alumi-Tech.
Initial manufacturing of the Alumi-Tech truck cover took place at Western
Industries until 1999 when demand for the truck cover surpassed plant capacity.
As such, Joe formed a new company by the name of JOPA Industries to focus solely
on the Alumi-Tech truck cover. A new truck cover manufacturing facility in
Humboldt, Saskatchewan became the home of the truck cover where it still is
currently produced.
Present
In March of 2004, the truck cover, by now simply known as the "Alumi-Tech",
reached a new era when TREK Industries Inc. purchased the truck cover
manufacturing rights from JOPA Industries Inc. Firmly believing that the truck
cover industry was still in a relatively infancy stage, with high growth
potential, TREK Industries Inc. purchased the truck cover rights to reach out to
a growing North American client base.
Future
TREK Industries Inc. will continue to expand the reach of the
Alumi-Tech Truck Cover by expanding its network of established dealers and
distributors. In addition, TREK Industries Inc. is committed to the truck cover
industry and will expand its line of truck covers to include many new models and
features. TREK Industries Inc. is not a compromising company. We will not stop
until we are the #1 truck cover manufacturer in North America !
